Aquatec Maxcon Group announced as 2017 Business of the Year

On Saturday 4th November, Aquatec Maxcon Group was announced as the winner of Business of the Year at the 2017 City of Ipswich Business Awards, presented by the Ipswich Chamber of Commerce and Industry.AQMAward

There were over 450 nominations across nine categories for the awards, which highlighted the diversity and depth of talent within the broader Ipswich business community. 

Greg Johnston, Managing Director of Aquatec Maxcon said, “It was very pleasing to see the company and its contribution to our city over many years recognised in this way. There were a number of other outstanding companies in the same category. That we succeeded against such strong competition is indicative of the capability and strength of the company and its ability to compete on the world stage.”

Kingaroy Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade wins Infrastructure Project Innovation Award

At the 2017 Australian Water Association’s Annual Queensland Gala Dinner, Aquatec Maxcon, along with South Burnett Regional Council, won the Infrastructure Project Innovation Award for the successful delivery of the Kingaroy Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) upgrade.

Peter Ferrando, Aquatec Maxcon Director, said “Kingaroy WWTP is our first Nereda® Plant in Australia and to have the Water Industry recognise our achievement in delivering this job is encouraging. I am extremely proud that the design was delivered with our core in-house engineering team of Process, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers (MPA Engineering) with support from Cardno, as the Civil Designers. Our Group is capable of accomplishing great outcomes and delivering industry leading projects.”

Kingaroy WWTP has achieved exceptional effluent quality together with significant reductions in both capital and operating expenses. It has also received special recognition by the Dutch Government which issued a postage stamp celebrating the relationship between Australia and The Netherlands.

MPA Engineering Completes Electrical Installation for Yarra Valley Water

In early 2017 MPA Engineering completed the electrical installation (including design and manufacture of LV switchboards) and commissioning for the Yarra Valley Water Biogas plant at Wollert, north of Melbourne.  The facility, owned by Victoria’s largest water utility,  is capable of generating 1MW of power 24 hours a day.

About 100 tonnes of waste will be trucked to the facility from markets and food manufacturing operations each day and the produced biogas will be used to generate electricity. The generated power will be used to run the local water treatment facility and any surplus will be exported to the electricity grid.

The Yarra Valley Water biogas plant was the winner of the AD (Anaerobic Digestion) and Biogas Industry Award 2017 (held in the UK) for Best International Commercial Plant.
